Boots

Rented La (Shift 4D) Sportiva size 10.5 from Sports Basement for weekend for $44.10.

worked really well, feet kept dry and would purchase or rent with crampons

Pack

  1. backpack
    1. used 18L pack should pick a larger one with easier access or more straps on the outside for crampons/ice axe
    2. Need to be able to attached detach quickly
  2. gloves
    1. bring 2 pairs one for hot one for cold
  3. water
    1. at least 3 liters
  4. foods
    1. apple was great
    2. too many nuts and was too dry
    3. boiled egg would have been good
    4. should have brought electrolites

Reflections

It’s been almost a week since the hike and while I was refreshed and full of energy while in Shasta I became drained when coming home. Drained because of the emotional stripping but also focused and calm. I believe not drinking is helping with that and I’m glad
